Muzhappilangad Beach
Located 14 kms from Mahe, Muzhappilangad is a long and clean beach with an enchanting ambience. The waters here look very inviting and tempting for swimming, sunbathing or simply lounging around under the palm groves which provide welcoming shade from the heat of the tropical sun. It is very sage to swim here because there are black rocks which protect the swimmers from the deep currents, thus creating a pool with shallow waters, which is considered to be a swimmer’s paradise.
This is the only drive in beach in Kerala which is close to 5 kms long. A drive in beach means a beach where one can drive along the entire length of the beach in a car or any other type of vehicle. One can see the Dharmadam Island which is located across the Arayakkandy River from this beach.
For those who prefer a much quieter, unexplored and more secluded beach, Muzhappilangad Beach is the place to visit. Here one does not have to be anywhere near throngs of people and one can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the beach.
